Hi, my name is Stephanie Nyong, the health teacher. Today we will be discussing nipple discharge when you are not pregnant or breastfeeding of course. Is it Normal or abnormal?
Some people are so scared when they notice this sign and the first thing that comes to mind is “breast cancer” is here. If the discharge is bloody or happens in addition to another sign or symptom of breast cancer; a lump, mass or any other sign or symptom at all, you should see a doctor. It’s not just see a doctor, its see a doctor now which is going to be early enough when you have options for treatment.
There are several reasons why a lady may experience nipple discharge. Some of which are: Hormonal changes, use of birth control pills, injury to the breast, side effects from the use of medications and even stimulation- excessive stimulation during sexual activity.
Often times, this may go away but if not, it can be treated. First things first, you need to see a doctor who would run the necessary test and then treat effectively.
